We highly recommend Vaughan Ellmers and Absolute General Contractor, LLC. We have worked with Vaughan on three separate projects for our home:

  • Complete kitchen/dining/living room remodel (Fall 2008)
  • Bedroom refresh (floors/walls/ceilings) + front deck (Spring 2010)
  • Master bedroom/bathroom plus laundry reconfiguration and remodel (Early 2012)

We’ve trusted and depended on Vaughan to nearly rebuild our entire main floor. In each case, Vaughan was always professional, very communicative, and trustworthy. Vaughan worked very well with our architect and with us to ensure that the project exceeded expectations. Vaughan has high quality and is detail oriented. There was almost no punch list at the end of the project.

We’d love to work with Vaughan again.

Vaughan Ellmers (Absolute General Contractor, LLC) recently completed a sunroom and indoor/outdoor room addition to our Seattle area home. Vaughan worked well with our Architect and the subcontractors. The project was completed in a timely manner; disruption to our family life during construction was kept to a minimum and the quality of the work was terrific.

All these things may be expected of a reputable contractor, which Vaughan certainly is. Where Vaughan set himself apart from many, if not most contractors, was in problem solving and little things to improve appearance of our finished project. I’ll describe three.

  • During construction, it was determined we could have a future water problem with the most exposed roof truss caused by driven rain. Vaughan suggested a flashing to protect the beam and not detract from the aesthetics of the truss.
  • The roof trusses have exposed bolts. Vaughan suggested black bolts rather than the grey specified by our Architect, enhancing the appearance of the trusses.
  • Vaughan suggested a different molding that better blended with that in the existing part of our home.

We can recommend Vaughan to anyone considering a construction project, and we would want him bidding on any remodel in our future.

Vaughan at Absolute General Contractor does an impeccable job.  His attention to detail is second to none.  We have now had Vaughan do two remodels. The first was the entire gutting of our house at that time.  The second, in our new house, was even more impressive, due to the fact that the home is 100 years old.

We built a new addition with a brand new, chef style kitchen inside; a master bath; a walk in closet; moved around walls and doorways; then even put in new hardwoods and paint throughout the entire house.  It was quite the undertaking.

Then, to make Vaughan’s life even harder, we required that the addition seamlessly fit the house so it looked like it had always been there and all the detail inside had to fit the old Craftsman style.  Vaughan accomplished all of this to perfection.

We have not had a single person know that an addition was added at all, except for the previous owner, who was a contractor as well, and was equally as blown away with the incredible detail.

Vaughan’s communication skills help alleviate any concerns you may have throughout as well as make sure you know of potential issues so you can solve them together.  Vaughan ensures that every detail of the project is done to his perfectionist standards before considering moving on.

I would not hesitate to recommend his services.
